Styling is important!
What you wear for your photos does matter. That doesn't mean that you need to go out and buy a completely new wardrobe, but it does mean you should be intentional with outfit planning. You want your outfits to be comfortable, but also a little dressier than an average day. Photos should be treated like a fun, special event! Picking a color palette is a great place to start with styling-combining different complimentary neutrals or bold colors depending on the look you are going for and the location that you will be photographed in. Clothing with texture and/or movement will always yield the best result because they add dimension and help to bring the photos to life (think puffy sweaters, satin, corduroy, velvet, fringe, flowy maxi dresses). Layering is great for adding dimension, too! Patterns are fun, but you don't want to mix too many different ones. I always recommend that when including a pattern that only one person wear one and everyone else wear complimentary solids. Overall, you want to feel comfortable and confident in pieces that will be great to look back on for many years! A carefully curated styling guide with tips, color palettes, and outfit ideas is included with all of my sessions to help ease stress and ensure the best photos possible :)
